The University Entrepreneurship Development Leadership Workshop

Universities South Africa’s (USAf’s) Entrepreneurship in Higher Education Programme (EDHE) and the Higher Education Leadership and Management (HELM) programme are collaborating to run the first annual University Entrepreneurship Development Leadership Workshop for members of the executive and senior management team at each university, with the support of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and the British Council.

Both HELM and EDHE are supported financially by DHET through its University Capacity Development Programme.

USAf will be hosting the first workshop as follows:

Time and Date: Starts at 9:00, Thursday, 22 November 2018 and ends at 14:00 on Friday 23 November 2018
Where: Johannesburg

The aim of this workshop is to provide a national consultative platform for the executive and senior management teams from our universities on the strategy and planning required for successful institutional entrepreneurship development interventions.

The objectives of this Workshop are for participants to:

  1. Understand the context of entrepreneurship development, while shaping future actions and strategy in this regard at institutional level;
  2. Understand and reflect on the international best practice in entrepreneurship development for operational success and financial sustainability;
  3. Identify and interrogate the current challenges, issues and opportunities in building entrepreneurship development planning and management capacity; and
  4. Discuss and agree on the way forward for sectoral entrepreneurship development initiatives, which are relevant and responsive to the needs of South African universities.

The workshop is being offered by USAf at no fee for executive leadership at Universities.
