EDHE DVC of the Year Award 2024

For the fifth year, the noteworthy contributions of key staff members to entrepreneurship development in higher education are recognised through several awards. The coveted EDHE DVC of the Year Award aims to recognise a Deputy Vice-Chancellor who has facilitated exceptional institutional support for entrepreneurship development in 2024.

This Award will be presented at the annual EDHE Awards event, in Johannesburg, in November 2024.

  1. ONLY current employees at one of the 26 public universities or registered students at one of the 26 public universities in South Africa (SA) may nominate a DVC.
  2. ANY current Deputy Vice-Chancellor or Vice-Rector at one of the 26 public universities in SA may be nominated, regardless of their specific designation, e.g., DVC: Academic, DVC: Research and Innovation, or any other.
  3. Nominations will be evaluated by a neutral panel consisting of senior representatives of the higher education sector, Universities South Africa (USAf) and the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).
  4. No correspondence will be entered into after the submission of nominations, apart from the acknowledgement of receipt of the nomination.

LEGEND

Please refer to the nomination form for the definitions of each of the criteria.

  • Advocacy = speaking out in support of entrepreneurship development within the university
  • Enablement = enablement through the establishment of support structures and policies, creating new positions, allocation of funding, etc.
  • National leadership = visible public leadership towards advancing entrepreneurship development in universities, e.g. through public engagement, serving on forums, etc.
  • Physical support = demonstrated personal support for entrepreneurship in universities through direct personal engagement, support on social media, attending relevant events, etc.
