IGNITE UNIVERSITY ACTIVATION 2026
The Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE), a programme of Universities South Africa (USAf), presents the EDHE Ignite University Activation 2026 – a high-energy activation series forming Stage 2 of the 8th annual EDHE Absa Entrepreneurship InnoVarsity 2026. The activation visits one university per EDHE region across South Africa between May and August 2026, immediately following the launch of the national competition.
The EDHE Absa Entrepreneurship InnoVarsity 2026 is sponsored by Absa Group and funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) through the University Capacity Development Programme (UCDP). SAB Foundation sponsors the InnoVarsity for the seventh consecutive year. Momentum Foundation or a successful entrepreneur further supports the activation, whose facilitated workshop forms the centrepiece of each activation.

EVENT STRUCTURE
Each EDHE Ignite University Activation follows a structured two-hour programme designed for maximum energy and impact. The session is hosted by a vibrant and dynamic Master of Ceremonies who drives audience engagement, introduces speakers, and maintains the high-energy tone that defines the Ignite brand.
Activation Programme (10:00 – 12:00)
The two-hour activation opens with a Welcome Address by a senior university executive, followed by the EDHE Address, which contextualises the competition and outlines the opportunity available to student entrepreneurs. The middle segment of the programme features either an invited Keynote Speaker or a Student Entrepreneurs Panel Discussion, where EDHE or university entrepreneurship programme beneficiaries share their experiences and entrepreneurship journeys. The activation culminates in a facilitated 60-minute workshop.
Keynote Address or Student Entrepreneurs Panel Discussion
EDHE selects one of two options for the 30-minute session: an invited Keynote Speaker who delivers an inspiring address on entrepreneurship and innovation, or a Student Entrepreneurs Panel Discussion in which EDHE or university entrepreneurship programme beneficiaries share their success stories, challenges, and key learnings. EDHE designed both formats to be motivational, relatable, and directly relevant to the student entrepreneurship audience. Absa will have an option to recommend their beneficiary that can participate as a keynote speaker or a panellist.
Workshop: Momentum Foundation or a seasoned entrepreneur
The Momentum Foundation Motheo/Savvy Programme for Financial Literacy or a successful entrepreneur delivers a 60-minute facilitated entrepreneurship workshop tailored to the student audience. The workshop is practical, interactive, and aligned with EDHE student entrepreneurship objectives of developing fundable, scalable student-led businesses. EDHE designed content to equip participants with applicable tools they can use immediately in their business planning and competition preparation.
