Registrations for the upcoming 6th annual EDHE Lekgotla – the annual gathering of leaders in entrepreneurship in Higher Education, from 19 to 22 July 2022, are open! The Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) programme is the national platform for the advancement of entrepreneurship at universities.

The EDHE Lekgotla 2022 is being hosted by Universities South Africa (USAf) in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), with the support of the five national EDHE Communities of Practice (CoPs). Importantly, the hosting university of this year’s Lekgotla is the Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), thus bringing the Lekgotla to the Eastern Cape for the first time.

The annual Lekgotla is the event where stakeholders experience the current trends in entrepreneurship development, and it also presents participants with an opportunity to not only gain a South African perspective but a more international view on entrepreneurship development as well.

The 2022 edition will be presented in a hybrid format to ensure a memorable in-person experience while providing inclusive and accessible online attendance to all stakeholders and interested persons – local and international.

Key sessions will be streamed via the EDHE YouTube channel, integrated with the events application, Glue Up. The in-person sessions will be hosted at The Boardwalk Hotel, Casino and Convention Centre – a mere 4.8km from Port Elizabeth International Airport and located at Beach Road, Summerstrand, Gqeberha.

The theme of the EDHE Lekgotla 2022 is #movetomarket, informed by the importance of the commercialisation of research, as well as the imperative to position student entrepreneurs for active participation in the economy by entering the market with their products and services.

Who should attend?

The EDHE Lekgotla has always been an inclusive event, open leaders and stakeholders, from South Africa and other African countries with an interest in entrepreneurship in the Higher Education sector. University leaders, staff members with an interest in entrepreneurship, academic faculty; entrepreneurship practitioners or civil servants with a focus on innovation, commercialisation and entrepreneurship, are all welcome to participate in the Lekgotla.
