Very few people are willing to draw up their own business plans. Usually, it is something entrepreneurs do only when they want to access finance from a bank or from investors. But, as Dr Tendai Chimucheka of the University of Fort Hare explained at the Student Entrepreneurial Week (#SEW2020) recently, a business plan can serve many other purposes.
Dr Chimucheka (left), who is a Senior Lecturer in Business Management, presented a video titled “The Need for a Business Plan” as the University of Fort Hare’s input to the recent #SEW2020. The event is an initiative of the Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) programme, which represents a partnership between the Department of Higher Education and Training and Universities South Africa (USAf), that encourages students to consider entrepreneurship as a career option.
